At Mexa Solutions, we’ve been running a packed program of events to celebrate Pride and learn more about what it means today.
We’ve had such a fun time getting together (socially distanced of course), celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, and raising awareness & money for charity.
Below are a few snippets of what we’ve been up to:
Pride Office Decor
What better way to brighten up the office (and raise awareness) than to decorate our workplace with Pride rainbows. We each made our own paper chains that were then joined together and hung our rainbow flag proudly in the office for all to see.
We also came together to make our own Pride flag – although we must socially distance, we stand together in supporting Pride.
Rainbow Skirt Making
Everyone took part in a skirt-making contest – as you can see the results were impressive! As well as being a bit of fun, it also shows that clothing isn’t gender-specific. It’s a freedom we should all have to be able to express ourselves however we want to – which unfortunately, is not the case across the globe.
Pride Bake-Off
Possibly the most popular event, we brought back our Mexa Bake-Off, but this time with a rainbow theme. There were some seriously strong contenders, from multicoloured sponges to vegetable mini quiches, but the winners, tying for first place were Zoe and Lou.
In addition to an early finish for both our champions, they also won a donation to the charity of their choice – Galop (the LGBT+ anti-violence charity).
Sponsored Run
Several of our staff participated in a sponsored walk/run to raise money for the Pride charities we’ve been supporting this month. Safe to say they put in a good effort, as seen in some of the “after” photos!
Pride Day
As Covid has put somewhat of a damper on Pride parades, we hosted our own Pride festival in our offices. Everyone came in their brightest clothing, and each staff member had their own set of goodies, including Pride button pins purchased from a company that feeds its profits back into the LGBTQ+ community. We also took the time to watch a video explaining the origins of Pride and why it plays such an important role some 50+ years on.

We are proud to have raised more awareness for LGBTQ+ issues and what it means to be part of this community, and proud to create moments that haven’t just been about having fun, but about creating conversations.
