HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEXA!
5 years ago, Bob and Simon Bath began a venture that is now home to the careers of a number of Recruiters and has helped change and develop the career of countless individuals across the IT Sector.
Upon reflecting over the last 5 years, I’ve interviewed Bob to see what his takeaways have been, how the business has grown and what values he’s held throughout.
Why the name Mexa Solutions?
We wanted something different, quirky and memorable which doesn’t lend itself to recruitment – so Mexa was born! The downside though is that we get regular sales calls from recruitment phone bashers asking, “do you have any jobs?!”
What are we most proud of about Mexa?
We live and breathe our core beliefs around quality approach, building partnered relationships and being outcome driven in our niche markets.
Our staff are also so important to Mexa and we’re proud that they too are invested in these beliefs. We ensure that everyone who comes to work with us can follow these same principles and it’s great to see these played out on a daily basis.
Funniest moment at Mexa?
Drunken karaoke on our sales incentive trip to Amsterdam. We thought it was amazing…until we played it back.
If you could have any other IT related job, what would it be and why?
Something customer facing and solutions focused. Perhaps a Pre-sales Consultant.
What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
My family, and although it may have changed throughout my time at Mexa (my wife and I had a baby last year), it’s remained and is even more so, an important part of my life.
What is your one bit of advice for anyone looking to hire in this time?
Hire for mentality, drive and commitment. You can teach the rest.
What three books would we find on your bookshelf at home?
- The Simple Art of Not Giving a F***
- The Chimp Paradox
- Eat Their Lunch
More for my relaxation…!
- Star Trek Books (because I am a geek!) & German language books
Who inspires you?
My family! They get me out of bed in the morning to drive my success and push to earn money!
Why IT Recruitment?
I have worked in IT recruitment for over 14 years, it’s what I know! However, the nature of IT is that it is forever adapting & changing, and it’s that transformation of IT which I enjoy – it keeps me on my toes.
What have you got planned for Mexa going forward?
Continued growth in the niche delivery teams with a continued focus on quality and the consultative partnerships
Any other comments for Mexa’s 5th birthday?
Has it really been 5 years?! It’s a shame we can’t celebrate our birthday in style this year!
Happy Birthday Mexa, here’s to the last 5 years, and the next!
